Marina Bay Sands Experience

Singapore is a country we could not wait to visit. The idea of it having such a different culture from where we usually travel and the fact we were staying at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, made us count the days.

Though physically small, Singapore is an economic giant. It has been Southeast Asia’s most modern city for over a century. The city blends Malay, Chinese, Arab, Indian and English cultures and religions. Its unique ethnic tapestry offers visitors a wide array of sightseeing and culinary opportunities. In addition, Singapore offers luxury hotels, delectable cuisine and great shopping! Because of its efficient and determined government, it has become a country that excels in trade and tourism and is a model to developing nations. Singapore is both an island and a country, but perhaps its best description is that of city-state that offers civilization and order at the highest degree.

We departed from Zurich, Switzerland. The flight was about 12 hours long, but fortunately Swiss Air is a comfortable airline which provides all the necessities and entertainment. We arrived in Singapore Changi Airport in the afternoon, took our taxi and went straight at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

The hotel was very busy, and as you can see from the photo, there were queues for checking in and checking out all the time. After we checked in, we went at our beautiful rooms and got ready to enjoy the famous infinity pool, which is accessible only by the guests of the hotel. We have to say that at night, the city lights view was incredible and the feeling of just being there was amazing and so relaxing. We ordered some cocktails and food, while smoking, as in most places in Singapore, is not allowed even outside. After the pool closed (at 11.00 pm), we walked around the Marina Boulevard to experience the city, which although late at night, felt very awake and busy (looks like Singapore never sleeps either).

The next morning, we had breakfast by the pool. Of course we opted for asian food. Here’s what our breakfast looked like (yes, these were on the breakfast menu).

The service was exceptional and the staff was vey polite. They even made possible for us to check out later than the normal time. For us, Marina Bay Sands is definitely a must stay hotel and an experience that must be enjoyed at least for one night.
